Meet Siobhan, your Secretary

Meet Siobhan! I'm sure many of you will already have seen Siobhan at the club, playing, supporting, opening, closing and all the other organisational things that go on behind the scenes to make our club work. Mother of Summer and Jamie, she's always there supporting and is a wonderful person to have a chat with, so feel free to introduce yourself! She's also a massive Maoris supporter, playing and managing when she can, even though she hasn't been 'playing' hockey all that long.

Here's what Siobhan had to say about her time at Western:

Could you give us a short description of your history here at Western?

I started off watching my sister play at Western as a kid, my children converted to hockey about 8 or so years ago. After many years of watching hockey, I decided to give it a go in 2023 and absolutely loved it!

What made you want to take on the role you’re in? What causes or issues are you most passionate about?

I wanted to have more involvement with the club, be a part of the decisions we make and see how (or if) I can make a difference. I am most passionate about building a community for our club, creating an environment people feel included and want to be a part of

What is something you’d like our community at Western to know about the club?

We have a passionate and caring club, people are always willing to help out whether it be putting up or down the gazebos or coming down to support and cheer on other grades

What’s something you’re personally really proud of that you’ve achieved at the club?

The adult Skills Sessions, I think it's important to support players who are returning or are new to hockey as adults. Although we didn't see the numbers we had hoped for, I personally found these super beneficial and we received great feedback from those who attended
